Turn the childhood classic into a funny money game with dollar bills.
Pass a Christmas-themed item around the room while the music plays, and whoever’s holding it when the music stops pays up.
It’s quick, silly, and makes the perfect icebreaker for holiday groups.

Materials needed
- 1-3 dollar bills per person
- Christmas music (phone or speaker)
- a special item to serve as the “hot potato”
How to play
Have everyone sit or stand in a circle.
The host plays Christmas-themed music (with their eyes closed to avoid bias), while the group passes the “hot potato” around the group.
The host stops the music at a random time.
Whoever holds the hot potato puts a dollar in the pot.
Keep going multiple rounds – the person who is last to have money left wins the pot of money.
Variation
The host can place a pre-set amount of money in a gift box, and the gift box itself is the “hot potato”
The box gets passed around the group – whoever holds the box when the music stops is eliminated
The last person standing keeps the box of money
This holiday money game is super easy to set up and guarantees lots of laughs.
It’s great for large groups, and tons of fun.
Have fun at your event!
