Before we dig into the activities you can try, I want to make one point clear.
You need to prepare! If you expect to be successful at this – especially in the early sober days – I want to drill it into your head that you need to avoid putting yourself in the same situations as before.
If you want different, BE different.
That means plan to totally switch things up. Step outside of that little comfortable box.
Do not go to a bar or to the same restaurants or dancing at the same liquor-filled club.
That’s setting yourself up for failure. BE DIFFERENT.
The most obvious reason doing and being different works is that it keeps you from falling into old patterns, but it also works because it stimulates you.
You’ll have fun exploring something new and unique, whereas of course if you stay in the same surroundings as always, knowing what to expect the whole time, you’ll get bored and be more likely to drink.

Whether you’re in a committed relationship or just testing the waters, keeping it sweet by going for special dessert can be a cute, fun way to spend some sober quality time together.
Bonus points: chocolate is an aphrodisiac. Getting your sugar crush on with your sugar crush at a new place, then taking a walk around, hand-in-hand is a great way to bond and build intimacy and closeness.
Sober Date Night Idea #2: Take A Class
Once again, whether you’re in a long-term relationship or totally new, taking a class together will stimulate the brain, help you create new memories and keep you on your toes. Bonus points if neither of you have ever done the activity before.

In conclusion, early sobriety comes with lots of challenges – navigating romantic relationships is no exception.
Whether you’re on date #1 or have been married for a decade, if you expect to be successful in kicking booze to the curb, you’re going to have to make some serious changes to how you spend your special quality time.
Perhaps over time, you’ll be able to go back to some of your old activities, booze-free.
But in the beginning, you might need to make sweeping changes to keep you from the temptation of falling back into your old patterns.
